How do you see the future of Greek Shipping in this global geopolitical unstable environment?
Hilios Anastasios: Let us not forget the evolution of shipping and its importance over the centuries. Greek shipping has been the world leader for decades.
With composure and optimism, it will face all challenges both globally and nationally. It has no substitute. To begin with, the shipping industry is the most efficient way of transporting goods.

We can see that there are significant differences in the way companies are organised. It is a much more horizontal structure with direct communication. The hierarchical model has receded. The Greek educational system offers specialised skills that can support the process of transition to the new environment.
I believe that shipping will once again be the cornerstone of economic recovery worldwide. Let us not forget that shipping is the European Union’s only weapon and is a responsible industry and it has proven this over the years and proves it every day.
It can respond and adapt in this global geopolitical volatile environment. It is characteristic that shipping was the only industry that continued its activity, despite the enormous challenges, throughout the pandemic COVID-19.
What has been your career path to date and what made you differentiate yourself with the fierce competition in your industry?
Hilios Anastasios: I started in the shipbuilding business at a young age and as the years went by, through a combination of hard work, self-discipline and faith I was able to develop myself and the company.
By paying special attention to equipment and with the right experience, the company has been able to develop and as a result, modern machinery and spare parts from EU countries have been supplied.
It is important that I am located in the Perama Ship Repair Zone, the heart of ship repair and maintenance, the former Karras Shipyards.
My business involvement in the ship repair industry dates back to 1988. In HPS A.Hilios Ship Repairs for over 35 years we have been on an upward trajectory, gradually climbing upwards and studying in detail every move we make.
Hilios Anastasios: Currently, A. Hilios Ship Repairs company has included in its activities Bodywork and Metalwork both on ships and onshore installations.
Mainly we deal with High Pressure Water Blasting Robotic Systems) Sanding, Reef Cleaning, Dyeing, Fuel Tank Cleaning, Marine Ballast Management on ships and onshore installations.
It was very difficult to start my own company, but this path to success is due to diligence and perseverance, because goods are earned.
Each of us has our own strengths and the goal of all of us is to always explore with honesty and innovative one but also focusing on the benefit and uninterrupted access to high quality services for our customers.
I do not consider it as luck that A. Hilios Ship Repairs has earned a well-deserved reputation for the quality of its work using constantly renewed mechanical equipment, with new technology machinery purchased from EU countries and environmentally friendly working methods in accordance with international standards with TÜV HELLAS certification.
